Real Estate Agent Charged with Voyeurism: What Happened in East Gwillimbury? (2026)

A shocking breach of trust has shaken the real estate world. Darrell Morrison, a former Newmarket real estate agent, is facing a criminal charge of voyeurism. This follows an alleged incident at a client's home in East Gwillimbury, raising serious questions about privacy and professional conduct.

According to York Regional Police, 50-year-old Morrison was charged with one count of voyeurism on December 21st. Authorities are understandably withholding further details to protect the victim's identity. The alleged incident reportedly occurred around December 18th at a residence in East Gwillimbury. It's alleged that Morrison made a visual recording of a person in the bedroom area of the home. Intriguingly, the property had been listed for sale by Morrison in November, and the listing was terminated shortly after his arrest.

Morrison was affiliated with Royal LePage at the time of the alleged incident. The company has since severed ties with him. Anne-Elise Cugliari Allegritti, the Vice-President of Research and Communications for Royal LePage, confirmed that Morrison is no longer associated with the brokerage, emphasizing the swift action taken upon learning of the allegations. Tim Graham, broker and area manager with Royal LePage RCR Realty in Newmarket, echoed this, stating that the appropriate authorities are handling the situation.

But here's where it gets controversial... Morrison's registration as a real estate salesperson has also ended. The Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) confirmed that his registration was voluntarily terminated earlier in the week. RECO highlights that real estate agents are required to submit criminal record checks upon registration and as needed. They must also report any new criminal charges or convictions. RECO assesses a registrant's suitability with public safety and potential risk to the public in mind.

And this is the part most people miss... Since the charge was laid, Morrison's online presence has vanished. His website and social media accounts are no longer active, a clear indication of the seriousness of the situation. Morrison is scheduled to make his first court appearance on January 30th at the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket. He has not been available for comment.
