Despite the absence of a men's team, local businesses are already witnessing high demand for Seattle basketball merchandise. Brandon Miner, co-owner of Pro Image, a sports apparel store, shares, "We're selling a lot of Sonic gear as it is. Having a team to associate with that gear would be incredible."
Miner adds that the Sonics' return would be "the icing on the cake" for Seattle, which is already celebrating the success of the Mariners and Seahawks. He also notes that former players, like SuperSonics star Gary Payton, remain invested in the Sonics brand.
"Payton actually visited our store during the NFC Championship game. He was looking to buy his jersey," Miner recalls.
The NBA Board of Governors is expected to cast their votes during the summer months. Knox assures, "If the league chooses Seattle, we'll be ready and responsive."
